orchids and beautifully set tables at the New York Botanical Garden's Orchid Dinner hosted by Veranda Magazine in NYC

the 11th annual New York Botanical Garden's Orchid Dinner
held at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel,
and hosted by Veranda magazine
It feels like the design industry waits with bated breath each year for the annual Orchid Dinner.  During a cold winter evening guests arrived to a bountiful array of orchids creatively designed on set tables.  With Tiffany & Co, Karen Katen Foundation and Mr. and Mrs. Marvin H. Davidson generously sponsoring, the evening included tables designed by well-known interior designers, delicious food and live music.  Exciting to note the proceeds are put to the New York Botanical Garden’s research center. Following the dinner, the show opened on March 2 at the Botanical Garden, and check here for details.

See below some eye-catching tables:

I enjoyed this canopy of threaded orchids cascading around a centerpiece of oranges and orchids, which was created by Lee Cavanaugh from Cullman & Kravis.  Cavanaugh utilized elaborate fabric and passamenterie from Samuel & Sons. The large array of orchids on sale were completely sold out by the end of a very vigorous cocktail hour.
