Hi- It's Tamara. I'm happy you've stopped by, and since 2010 I've been sharing my passion for interior design, history, art, entertaining, travel & fashion. I am an interior designer, textile designer and writer living and working in New York City and East Hampton, Long Island. My musings have taken me to international design, art, antique and epicurean events and I have lots to share. I'm grateful to have been listed as the #1 top design blog, blogs to watch, top design blogs and named and awarded Rising Star of Design by the IFDA NY industry organization. The fabulous Maybelline Te and her fresh furniture line, Snug

When I first met the fabulous, stylish and warm
Maybelline Te
I was immediatley impressed.

Her generous spirit can be felt when reading her lifestyle blog, froulala
it peppers her tweets on Twitter and
of course it inspires her furniture designs at

Maybelline partnered with Alex Brandon Hendricks to create the Snug line.  They explore shapes and forms that are fresh and familiar while using unique materials that factor in both form and function.

2010 was an exciting year for Snug:
the line was formally launched last Spring in New York
at the
 International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF).
May arrived in New York to showcase
SNUG
and received a warm welcome from the industry.

I met Maybelline while she was in town for this event,
and she happily squeezed in a lunch with me during her busy week.

Snug recieved raves reviews from the industry -

"a return to relaxation and simplicity"
Jason Sheftell
NY Daily News

Next, Snug made its debut in High Point
at
Interhall
this past Fall
and opened to the praise from industry expert
Hermine Mariaux
Here I am with Hermine at this September's Trend report at Grange showroom in NYC
(I wrote an interior design trend post in October based upon a syposium I attended --Hermine gave a detailed slideshow presentation and trend forecast from this past year's Maison Objet decorative art show in Paris).

Hermine praises SNUG:
"Snug astounds with undulating seating pieces made of polished resin and inlaid with coconut twigs and rattan. A Matrix table painted with thousands of multi colored dots resembles African textiles. All are made in the Philippines"
Hermine Maraux

Hailing from a family design business in the Philippines and having accrued much education in the industry, May has been on a whirlwind tour this past year to launch her line of furniture.  Each time we speak she is on her way to showcase SNUG.

She has created quite a buzz in the industry
and
many of us are tuned in
to hear what she's up to next.
 She is young and talented,
yet even with her busy life,
May juggles much to connect with others in the design industry.
After a few conversations this summer,
she learned I was hosting a Fourth of July celebration, and she quickly wrapped and sent me a full set of her exquisite shell napkin ring designs just in time for the day!
Take at look at how she influenced my holiday -
my Fourth of July party made extra special with Maybelline's gift:
shell napkin ring holders
Maybelline makes all this hard work appear effortless.
I love that she is willing to work directly with designers,
yet the icing on the cake
is the reasonable price point.
Take a look at a sampling of what she serves up --

I am craving a tattoo side table, and haven't seen anything like it before!

I love the punch of color and the interesting shape of this table's base

light and sculptural, this end table would be perfect in a loft space

I love the wave bench - the shape and materials are intriguing.

What makes the Snug line
so appealing to me is
how they incorporate
natural materials together
with familiar,
yet modern designs
As can be seen by these photographs below, the furniture can easily mingle with many styles from traditional to modern

Congratulations Maybelline Te
for a fabulous 2010
