Sneak Peeks of Patrik Lönn's designs for Holiday House New York City 2013, with holiday decorating advice to boot

With the anticipation of tonight's
opening gala
let me give you sneak peeks all week of
 my favorite designs
from Holiday House New York City 2013!
Patrik Lönn Design
Holiday House opens with holly and bough to infuse us with
"holiday spirit"
If you are in New York City, please purchase tickets to see Holiday House  and donate to a worthwhile cause advancing the research to cure breast cancer, while also soaking up inspiration from some of the finest interior designers in the industry.  If you live far away, let me give you some views of this beautiful event.  Set in a gorgeous townhouse on the Upper East Side of Manhattan's fashionable Upper East Side neighborhood, this historic home is already gorgeous.  Add to that a plethora of design talent's views,  inspiration from various holidays, and we are in for a treat.  With the holiday season on the horizon, these beautifully created spaces give us much design fodder, whether re-designing an entire home or simply setting a festive table.  I had the opportunity to chat with some of the designers just moments after they set their very last accessory into the space. A few gave me helpful tips I want to share with you to bring the holiday feeling into our homes. and donate to a worthwhile cause advancing the research to cure breast cancer, while also soaking up inspiration from some of the finest interior designers in the industry. Interior Designer, Patrik Lonn created a cozy, sophisticated den by combining
many rich materials -- Scottish wool,
Scandinavian pottery and eclectic art.
I was welcomed to an inviting, warm space rich with detail and with little bits of the unexpected as well.  Patrik explained he had traveled last year with Traditional Home magazine editors to Scotland.  He decided to utilize some of the resources he discovered while on that trip, and specifically incorporating the beautiful wool fabrics from Scotland.  Patrik used fine quality men's suiting wool to upholster the sofas, the walls and pillows.   He then incorporated Scottish silver, art and Scandinavian pottery together to create a comfortable, sophisticated room with many layers.  I enjoyed the modern art and photography  which added an unexpected playfulness to the room.

Patrik's advice for holiday decorating:
use unexpected materials to create a cozy space for the holiday season.
Add a sense of history and depth to your home by incorporating finds from your travels.

Stop back tomorrow for more views
of my favorite designs at this year's Holiday House,
and to glean more holiday decorating tips
from the designers.
with myriad furnishings and accessories from vintage lighting, to feathers incorporated into the fireplace mantel display, Patrik Lönn
shows the value of working with a talented interior designer who can bring various items together seamlessly in your home.

Happy Nesting
XO Tamara
