WELCOME to Nest by Tamara blog
Hi- It's Tamara. I'm happy you've stopped by, and since 2010 I've been sharing my passion for interior design, history, art, entertaining, travel & fashion. I am an interior designer, textile designer and writer living and working in New York City and East Hampton, Long Island. My musings have taken me to international design, art, antique and epicurean events and I have lots to share. I'm grateful to have been listed as the #1 top design blog, blogs to watch, top design blogs and named and awarded Rising Star of Design by the IFDA NY industry organization. Please feel free to reach out to our team for an interior design consultation at NestbyTamara.com -Tamara

The Fantastic Kitchen at Fisher & Paykel as the backdrop for a special evening with IFDA NY, Aspire Magazine, Root Cellar Designs, and Allison Zisko from HSN magazine!

How We Entertain Today:
Discussions Over At Kitchen Showroom,
Fisher & Paykel in New York City!
We designed the tables for this fantastic event
using our custom designed textiles Root Cellar Designs

Two weeks ago, we were part of a special IFDA NY Chapter evening, a talk on home entertaining trends led by HFN's Tabletop Editor Allison Zisko. Susan Young and I utilized our Root Cellar Designs textiles from our new Renaissance collection to create pretty table designs for the evening showing on-trend designs. Please see our media sponsor's coverage of the event in Aspire Magazine.  A Special thanks to our friend Paula Smith Cecere over at the new Fisher & Paykel showroom who hosted the evening, serving us delicious food and wine.  If you have not visited this beautiful space, go today!  The New Zealand based company sells full kitchens from the cabinetry to appliances.  Since 1934, the company has been designing products for kitchens to a global market in 50 countries.  They manufacture in Mexico, Italy, Thailand and New Zealand, and they also sell my very favorite stoves, DCS (Dynamic Cook Systems).  I have a DCS five burner cook top in my cottage in East Hampton and it is fantastic, a perfectly commercial style cook top.  The brand new showroom in the A&D building in New York City shows the products in a beautiful space.  We heard from Allison on the state of the business side of entertaining and how the kitchen is still the epi-center of home and entertaining.  The consumer has changed their attitude about entertaining recently to more casual, yet fun approach, and thankfully all with a more creative outlook than years past.  We created two very distinctly different table decors using some of our new patterns and custom designed table runners, linens and napkins for the evening.  We arranged the flowers and brought in unique accessories to put together the tables showing current design trends.  Our first table was pink and black showing stones, rocks and gems, and inspired by butterflies and nature.  Our second one was serene, with sleek and masculine details combining rattan and pottery plates. Please see our sources to help create your  own beautiful tables this summer:
