As I contemplate my earlier story this month about upcoming trends in design, it is refreshing to note that we seem to be blending both styles more than ever before in our homes. The lines are no longer distinct between a traditional and contemporary home and many are a lovely melding of the two. I spoke with interior designer Michael Katz whose home will be on the tour this year and he echoed these sentiments -
“my thoughts are about neutrals, naturals and a lot of texture, matte and shine, mohair and suede, linen and leather. I think what is making interior design so exciting right now is the trend in using furniture and objects from all periods whether it be the 1850's or the 1970's, and it’s all in the mix.” Michael Katz

I hope to see you at the kick-off cocktail party located at the "Rollinson House", a private home located in the Grace Estate section of East Hampton. This exquisite Regency Villa is set on four manicured acres. The house will be available for touring during the cocktail party and reflects the owner's French and English design styles and unique flair.
Tickets to the Opening Night Cocktail Party start at $150 and include entry to the following day tour. Tickets to the House and Garden Tour are $50 in advance and $60 on the day of the tour. Both on sale -- www.easthamptonhistory.org or call 631-324-6850.
This year's EHHS house tour is sponsored in part by Tiffany & Co., Hamptons Cottages &Gardens magazine and Sotheby's.
