We have kitchen lighting on our minds as we set in the last details of a NYC kitchen renovation in this last bit of summer.  The small but detailed kitchen will have marble floors, white subway tile backsplash with dark grout, stone counter tops, white shaker cabinetry and all new stainless steel appliances.  The lighting will add the needed decorative detailing and sculptural touches with one light over the kitchen table and the other over the farmhouse kitchen sink.  We are fortunate to have access to the best selection of lights on the market in history thanks to the many artists and brands creating innovative lighting.  Lighting today is both artistically inspired and practical and can truly add an artistic flair to finish off a decorating project.  From industrial to classic designs the lighting market is exploding with options.  Come take a look at a few pendant lights we've either used in recent design projects and others we hope to use in the near future.

1. Ralph Lauren's the Fulton, available at Circa Lighting
offers three finishes and a diffused light in an industrial feeling design.  Our favorite is the Industrial Steel finish (shown above)

2. Urban Electric's Brompton inspires us with classic lines and design but a modern finish.  Shown in the Heirloom finish with colored smoky glass, it's divine.

3. Anthropologie 's Pembridge 

is unique and stylish. Featuring 144 bone china discs, this design is rooted in classic old world craftsmanship with a modern perspective.  Made in Oxford, England and utilizing antique brass it's one of our favorites and hoping to use in a future kitchen project.  

4. School House Electric's Luna

is a gorgeous version of the popular orb light for kitchen design.  It's sleek and in this Opal finish (offered in three finishes--opal, smoky and clear) it produces a gorgeous, natural feeling light.  We love the slender rod and blown glass cover in a generous 12" size.   

5. Ro Sham Beaux's Gabby is a bohemian option for a beach house kitchen.  We would love to see a row of three over a fun bar area.  With the natural materials and clear beading it makes for an hand crafted feel.

6. Arteriors' Henrik would make a stylish choice in a pair over a kitchen table adding a sleep and modern aesthetic with a classic base.  It reads both modern and classic and a unique design with the shade resting on the crafted metal arms. 

7. Dot&Bo's Sonoma Chandelier pendant looks like a light you'd see in an outdoor garden in Paris.  A steel three-tiered design creatively wrapped in jute, this would look great over a breakfast nook table of a cozy, eclectic kitchen.

8. Restoration Hardware's European Factory Long-Neck Pendant in the white finish has a matte putty feeling finish, and harkens to the original shape the the Czech Republic artisans created in its industrial aesthetic.  Perfect for an uber modern, urban kitchen, perhaps over an large oversized kitchens sink it would be a great style for its economical cost. 

9. Michele Varian's Brass Dome pendant is made in an old-world tradition by artisans in Sarajevo created with layered sheets of spun, untreated brass it will age with a lovely patina over time.  How lovely over a kitchen island and hung in a row!   

10. MadeGood's Marjorie is made with

pieces of banana bark set in resin in a layered tiered shape creating a unique design to cast a fabulous favorable light over a 

kitchen dinner table.
