Spring Market Week in NYC's D&D Building on the heels of my sponsored trip to Brimfield with Robert Allen Fabrics

This Wednesday was Spring Market at the D&D Building in NYC.
I am flattered to have been asked to report during this busy day on the happenings from the design lounge on the 14th floor.

The schedule was jam-packed with symposiums and events in various D&D building's showrooms.  We kicked off Market Week with a very generous invitation by the illustrious fabric designer Christopher Hyland.  Christopher's showroom on the 17th floor of the D&D building has long been one of my favorite places to pick up beautiful, eclectic fabrics from silks to crewels.  A few of us lucky writers were welcomed with open arms into Christopher's home for an evening of laughter and delicious food.  Please stop by here again soon for a full editorial about Christopher's new endeavor, a lovely homage to his years in design as Editor in Chief of Hyland Magazine. Just completed it's seventh issue, Hyland magazine promises to be a game changer for online magazines.  The magazine has beautiful photography and an insider's views of interior design from an artistic perspective.  You can download the Hyland Magazine app here for your Ipad on Itunes.  In the meantime, please follow Christopher who has just joined twitter at @Hylandmagazine  Don't forget to follow the @danddbuilding on twitter as well for up to date information on this iconic building
serving the interior design industry in New York City.

During Market,
I especially enjoyed the slide show by Robert Allen and HC&G magazine on fabrics, and a history of IKAT fabrics.
What great timing for me since I'm fresh back from a designer road trip sponsored by
Robert Allen Fabrics
to the infamous Brimfield Antique Show.
Robert Allen graciously invited a few of us designers and bloggers to attend the annual antique show in anticipation of their new fabric launch of their "Naturals" collection. We hunted the market for unique upholstered pieces to bring back to the showroom and offer up a backdrop to showcase this wonderfully, rich yet affordable collection. The muted colors of indigo and natural hues work nicely with antiques - this was a great pairing! How ingenious of Robert Allen to brainstorm and include our perspective as well.
So, tomorrow while heading over to the schedule-packed Design & Decoration Building to take in all the design inspiration, don't forget to stop into Robert Allen.
Here I am with the Robert Allen team and other designers & bloggers at Brimfield

this was one of my very favorites and it's a wool but felt like butter!
A stop into Robert Allen's studios to see the new Natural Collections,
then we packed up our favorite fabrics onto the bus and off to Brimfield to shop
