WELCOME to Nest by Tamara blog
Hi- It's Tamara. I'm happy you've stopped by, and since 2010 I've been sharing my passion for interior design, history, art, entertaining, travel & fashion. I am an interior designer, textile designer and writer living and working in New York City and East Hampton, Long Island. My musings have taken me to international design, art, antique and epicurean events and I have lots to share. I'm grateful to have been listed as the #1 top design blog, blogs to watch, top design blogs and named and awarded Rising Star of Design by the IFDA NY industry organization. Please feel free to reach out to our team for an interior design consultation at NestbyTamara.com -Tamara

a room filled with designers all contributing chairs and designs to the event.  Thanks to a wonderful team!

You may remember last year I co-chaired this annual gala for the IFDA NY chapter.  This year, the third annual Take A Seat Chair Charity auction took place on May 27th at the Safavieh showroom on Broadway in NYC.  With over 20 designers refurbishing chairs, the event had many beautiful works to sell at auction to an enthusiastic crowds.  This year we even had some lovely miniature chairs worked into creative party hats (thank you Patrica Fox!) to add to the creative ventures.  Working with Habitat For Humanity NY for the second year in a row is a rewarding experience to boot, and much of the proceeds from this event go to this worthy cause.  Habitat continues to help create homes for New York residents.   This is a perfect pairing indeed with the design community. We were fortunate to have big names like Karim Rashid, Iris Dankner (of Holiday House) and many other designers who give their time, their talent and their passion to this cause.  Susan Young and I offered up a sturdy, classic chair and called it Runway Ready. We donned the chair seat with Root Cellar Designs fabric inspired by 19th century fashion illustrations.  We painted the chair ebony and gave it pretty gold tipped legs.  Please check out the offical post about the event with all details on the IFDA NY chapter blog
