Antiques Diva tour of the Hamptons was certainly
a behind-the-scenes visit to
Elizabeth Dow Home.
We popped in for a morning visit to Elizabeth Dow Home, and were greeted by her friendly team offering coffee and pastry. Then we were whisked through the home design shop which is chock-filled with art, furniture, accessories, wallpaper and fabric for the home. Elizabeth Dow Home is a one-stop shop for beautifully made wares for the home, and since Elizabeth herself is an artist, she squarely places the emphasis on the artisan made. Each piece is unique and feels one of a kind, and the art is ethereal. The color palette throughout the shop is creamy and neutral, and lends itself to taking note of the textural nature of many of the designs. The shop is the iconic, former Eagle Art Store in East Hampton, and after a renovation, it feels fitting with Dow's serene aesthetic. Don't let the calm of the front of the shop fool you, because in the back the design studio is buzzing with activity with a full design team busy creating wallpaper, archiving their library and devising design schemes for many of their clients.

We watched Dow's talented crew create custom wallpaper panels right on the premises, and they patiently led us on a play-by-play tutorial of how they create these designs. We headed upstairs and met with the interior design team who were collaborating on projects and archiving their full library of textiles and wallpaper.
Elizabeth shared with us her passion for textiles. It is certainly hard to resist touching these chunky and luxurious fabrics while hearing first-hand from her about her commitment to art and design here in the East End of Long Island. In addition to her own collection of fabrics, Dow carries a wide array of other brands from all over the world.
It is refreshing to note, the shop is continually changing their look as Elizabeth showcases various artists, very much like a gallery space. Some of the artists themselves work in-residence in her design studio as well. The mood at Elizabeth Dow Home is very art-focused. Check out photography from renowned artist, EJ Camp - the artist's photography was featured throughout the shop when we visited. She is a local East-End resident and her oversized ocean and beach scenes are gorgeous and inspiring!
Happy Nesting
