Eye Candy On Wordless Wednesday- a Visual Journey of Our Favorite Candy
A Candy Lovers Post,Just a Pretty & DeliciousVisual Journey Chronicling Our Favorite Candy on#WordlessWednesday (well, not wordless but less wordy than usual)Enjoy!
Candy takes us back to our childhood- the bright colors, the joy we felt when we were bequeathed with a tootsie pop or our other favorite candy erupts at the sight of our favorite candy. We were literally "kids in a candy store" and giddy with the freedom the sugary treat provided us. When we came upon this image of Frida Kahlo, an art piece made of candy at the NYC's Candytopia we were inspired to write this post about candy. Check out our CANDY BOARD for sources and recipes too.
History of Candy- While many think it all traces back to sugar, that is incorrect. Honey is at the center of candy's inception and according to all the historical research the ancient Egyptians first made candy with honey, fruit and nuts. Later, the Greeks candied fruits with honey. By the 16th century, the candy industry was born, and by the 19th century the candy we know today was a burgeoning business made mostly with sugar.
