WELCOME to Nest by Tamara blog
Hi- It's Tamara. I'm happy you've stopped by, and since 2010 I've been sharing my passion for interior design, history, art, entertaining, travel & fashion. I am an interior designer, textile designer and writer living and working in New York City and East Hampton, Long Island. My musings have taken me to international design, art, antique and epicurean events and I have lots to share. I'm grateful to have been listed as the #1 top design blog, blogs to watch, top design blogs and named and awarded Rising Star of Design by the IFDA NY industry organization. Please feel free to reach out to our team for an interior design consultation at NestbyTamara.com -Tamara

the First Annual NYC&G's Innovation in Design Awards at the Harvard Club in NYC

The First Annual NYC&G's
Innovation in Design Awards
I feel fortunate to have been invited by Thos. Moser to share a dinner at the first of many annual NYC&G's magazines Innovation in Design Awards.  This magnificent evening brought together some of the design industry's great talents to celebrate and honor designers and architects.
Have you read
the September NYC&G yet?
It's a unique issue which profiles an eclectic array of area interiors
from a West Village modernist townhouse to
a Parisian chic family apartment on Central Park West.
With the magazine just over one year old,
it was exciting to be part of their very first
annual Innovation in Design Awards last evening.
Take a look at some of the highlights of the event--

the Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club choir performance-
The Kips Bay choir took to the stage illustrating firsthand the values of a prospering neighborhood youth program.  As many know from the very successful Kips Bay Showhouse, the organization has had the fortune of the design industry's love for many years.  The young and enthusiastic talents joyously sang, setting the tone for a wonderful evening.  Check out the club's Facebook Page.

hearing from Holly Hunt--
the crowd gave Holly Hunt a standing ovation as recipient of the Innovation Award!  Holly Hunt is celebrated for her forward thinking and myriad abilities from visionary to designer.  She took to the stage exclaiming
"I love what I do"
and imparting wisdom about the design world's "secret sauce".

catching up with friends, old and new--
Ashley (Thos. Moser), KC Williams (CT&G magazine), me

I like this poignant quote from De-spec's Farnaz Mansuri about design and architecture.  I had the opportunity to chat with the talents from De spec during the event, and look forward to profiling the firm here on Nest by Tamara soon.

"…Rather than objectifying the architectural solution, space is choreographed to produce the desired experience, and in essence ‘experience’ is designed…"
Farnaz Mansuri

I like the pretty table covers designed by Paul Frank's new collection for Duravit

I am a fan of Maine furniture company, Thos. Moser.  As seen above in their Gloucester Rocker, they combine modern and traditional sensibilities in their beautifully crafted furniture.
