Designers "thinking outside the box"--Bjorn Bjornsson's design in a Penthouse at the Azure in NYC

~design, design~
two penthouses offering
different luxurious possibilities.
High in the Big Apple Sky, Penthouse A and B at the Azure  transformed by interior designers
 James Rixner and Bjorn Bjornsson.
Part 1: Bjorn Bjornsson's jewel box at the Azure
Let me tell you about two luxury high-end penthouse apartments over at the Azure, boasting spectacular views of New York City on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.  Newly constructed, the multi-million dollar apartments are for sale, but first, these two talents were invited to transform the penthouse suites in order to showcase myriad design possibilities and highlight the architecture in it's best light. Both designers procured product donations from some very swanky design bands, including Baccarat, Christofle, Niedermaier Ankasa, Arteriors, Frette, Century Furniture, Christopher Guy showroom and more.  Serving up this glamorous view, the stage is now set for a successful sales record for the building. It is a fortuitous partnership while  celebrating another way to feature talent and showing the value of working with a professional interior designer.
is located at 333 East 91st street.

Today, I bring you the first view of  Bjorn Bjornsson's elegant retreat with a cornucopia of gorgeous art, furniture and accessories.
Bjorn set the tone by creating a gorgeous table and melding vintage and modern day pieces together seamlessly.  The design of this apartment shows his love for color and attention to detail in the home.

this ethereal work of art adds to the layers of colors, textures and beauty in the home.
the embroidery and applique design of Ankasa's pillows bring needed detailing to the modern space.
Bjorn gave me a thorough tour of the apartment pointing out the smallest of details while sharing his inspirations. He custom designed the chaise for the project.
This is the prettiest blue (with a touch of green) color I've seen in a while by Benjamin Moore.  Bjorn added layering and subtle color again here in the bedroom to create a cozy nest.

Bjorn pointed out a unique side table in the guest bedroom he had custom designed as part of a brand new furniture collection.  At first glance, I thought it was Shagreen (shark skin), but instead, it is a special veneer he dreamt up utilizing salmon skin imported from a fish factory he came upon in Europe.  I will most certainly bring you the "back story" on this collection soon, so please stay tuned!

Bjorn painted a horizontal wide stripe for a modern, fresh feel and spurts of vivid color - perfect for a teen girl.
This unique program was brought to fruition by GCT Marketing, with a plan to offer more custom designed packages to high-end residential buildings, inviting interior designers and design industry brands unique ways to collaborate with luxury residential design.
Happy Nesting
