On February 24 over 300 guests attended the philanthropic and design industry tabletop extravaganza, The New York Botanical Garden’s annual Orchid Dinner.  Celebrating the gorgeous orchid, all designer clad tables showcased the large-scale orchid with wildly creative centerpiece arrangements by 25 of New York’s leading designers. This year the dinner gala took place at the gorgeous Plaza Grand Ballroom at Fifth Avenue and Central Park South.  All in the name and passion for development towards Botanical Garden’s orchid research collection and conservation, the event raised over $600,000 for the cause. The evening was sponsored by Hearst Corporation, VERANDA, and BNY Mellon with Design sponsors--Fabricut, Pierre Frey, Samuel & Sons, Stark and Zoffany Carolyn Englefield, Decorations Chair
Dan Dahl, Design Coordinator

ABOUT the Orchid Museum Exhibit:  Orchidelirium, The Orchid Show itself is at the New York Botanical Garden, and on exhibition through April 17, 2016.  This is a living museum exhibit, and a beautiful showplace of natural beauty and wonder,  and located in the Enid A. Haupt Conservator, which is a New York landmark.  This year, the focus is on the 19th-century trend of showcasing a single orchid bloom, and  thousands of orchids are on display showing a cornucopia of colors, sizes, shapes, and textures while profiling the explorers who risk their lives to secure these exotic flowers from dangerous jungles around the world.
GALA CHAIRS: Sharon and Bill Jacob, Kamie and Richard Lightburn, Tina and Steven R. Swartz were the Gala Chairs; Clinton Smith, Editor in Chief, VERANDA was the Chair; Carolyn Englefield, Director of Decoration and Special Projects, VERANDA was the Decorations Chair; andMary and Marvin Davidson, Deborah and Charles Royce, Nonie and John Sullivan, Jr. were the Honorary Chairs.
