Our Designs For Holiday House Soho Utilizing Wallpaper & Fabric from Our Root Cellar Designs' Collections

Behind The Scenes:
Creating An Indoor/Outdoor Powder Room
For Holiday House Soho!
the gala opening for Soho's first Holiday House location is in two days, kicking off the festivities that runs through the holiday season at this annual designer showhouse.  After the VIP gala ribbon-cutting celebration, the homes are open to the public featuring custom design spaces by twenty of the nation's top designers in a luxe pair of brand new town homes in the stylish Soho neighborhood.  This year's event has a new vibe, new neighborhood and honoring style icon, Iris Apfel.
Take a look at behind-the-scenes moments where Susan and I transformed this tiny powder room, steps from the home's expansive roof deck offering soaring views of the city.  We decided to make it a gardener's dream, surrounded by the colors and textures of the outdoors.  We began by custom coloring one of our new root cellar designs' wallpaper patterns, Tree Spirit in a color we call, Moody Emerald.  This set the tone, and from there we were fortunate to procure beautiful garden-inspired items.  Since this space is tiny, we decided to go a little over the top, and it feels almost like an art installation with touches of humor to boot.  We brought in a faux stone bench showing a mossy knoll, galvanized shelving with potted ivy and an indoor/outdoor mirror and sconces. We even hung a trio of antique textile print blocks showing the roots in our home textile company, Root Cellar Designs
wallpaper installation in progress--our pattern we custom colored in this vibrant color for the project.

We were immediately smitten with these
Rachel Laxer selenite sconces set on a weathered nickel base with LED lighting, and they add that lovely balance of glamour with a little patina to the room.
These are currently offered for sale through Viyet

brings in the needed whimsy.  These pieces are just as comfortable living inside as they do outside, weather durable and light in weight they are easy to transport.
The last touch we added was this textured mirror from Terrain which we think works well with our wallpaper pattern.

Happy Nesting
XO Tamara
