Raj Lantern
Painted tole holds a special place in my heart. It's modern, classic, colorful and so beautiful! I first spotted these lovely lights at the Ken Kehoe designer showroom in Houston, Texas where our root cellar designs' fabric and wallpaper are represented. Even in the beautiful showroom chock-filled with gorgeous wares, these lovely lanterns stand out. Coleen and Company makes lighting and furniture, and all are also available in custom colors and sizes to boot, and they work closely with designers on custom work. The handmade Raj Lantern is whimsical, exotic and stylish, and is offered in several colors...I love the green one the most, or maybe the cobalt blue one. The standard size is a nice chunky light at 16.5" W x 16.5 D and 22.5 H. All their lights are finished by artisans in Los Angeles, California, and the standard lead time is 4-6 weeks.
what is tôle? Originally from the 18th century and most commonly colored dark green or black, Tole is painted, enameled, or lacquered tinplate and used often to create objects for the home. The name originated in France as toleware (French tole peinte), which means painted sheet metal. Today, it's a collectible antique, and it's rare to see it done well in our modern market, so cheers to Coleen and Company for getting it right.
