Or, take a quick sneak peek here to see and read about the homes that will be on the annual tour. The 2018 East Hampton House & Garden Tour benefits The East Hampton Historical Society, and offers the community this House Tour every year the Saturday after Thanksgiving. It is a fun afternoon meandering the beautiful homes and gardens on the tour in the historic town and village of East Hampton. This year, the homes are open to the public on Saturday afternoon, November 24 from 1-4:30 pm. Please purchase tickets for the tour at the East Hampton Historic Society, call 631-324-6850, or stop into the Clinton Academy at 151 Main Street from Friday through Saturday, November 23/24, between 10 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to pick up tickets. The East Hampton Historical Society’s House Tour Committee hand-picked five unique homes this year, each one showcasing the unique design and spirit of the East End.
You can also kick off the festivities at their Friday Night Cocktail Party at the historic Maidstone Club. Tickets to the Opening Night Cocktail Party are $200 each, which includes entry to the House Tour the following day. Tickets to the self-guided 2018 East Hampton House & Garden Tour are $65 in advance and $75 on the day of the tour. Purchase tickets here for the cocktail party.
First stop on the tour-- a Village Charmer, The David Huntting House (circa 1800) in East Hampton’s Historic District. This understated, yet regal shingle home is well known by architectural historians with its pilastered front door and curving stairway. The last two years, the home underwent a renovation and restoration.
Next stop-- The William H. Babcock House (circa 1720), a South-of-the-Highway historic home originally stood on Main Street in the Village, but was relocated in 1964. East End Architect Kitty McCoy renovated the historic timber frame house two years ago.
Third Stop-- a home channeling an Adirondack Resort, this dream-like compound, resort is a custom-built residence among majestic, towering white pine trees and enchanting entertaining spaces, a magnificent great hall, a stunning formal dining room, and multiple outdoor flagstone patios.
Fourth, an enchanting, “Mid-Century Summer’s Night, Dream” and infused with color with an expansive, warm feel. Overlooking the Atlantic ocean, the home was designed by architectural firm Stelle Lomont Rouhani, and the design aesthetic completed by renowned interior designer David Netto. The home is a collaboration of architectural and interior design missions combined.
And, last (but certainly not least)-- The Salty Dog (aptly named by designer Jessie Della Femina). Ms. Della Femina is an avid estate sale visitor with a passion for recovering, repainting and restoring the items she finds. The designer longed to build a new home that also felt at home with the quaint cottages that dot the Wainscott community. More than three quarters of the furniture and decorative items in the house were found at local estate sales.
Happy Nesting
