These Little Gems From Ireland,
Mairi Stone
I've said it before and I'll say it again, I just love etsy. It's a small village of artisans hailing from around the world, yet they're offered right at your doorstep. For many of the design and charity events I host, etsy is my go-to for finding unique products-- from seashells to vintage plates. The other day I was in need of some colorful pieces for our upcoming Lenox Hill Neighborhood House gala, which is an over the top extravaganza we participate in every year to help the neighborhood house charity raise funds through a black-tie dinner in Grand Central Station's ballroom Cipriani. A former historic bank, this room is beyond stunning with soaring ceilings, tapestries, and beautiful woodwork. The charity hand picks designers from around the country to each design a table for the dinner guests in the year's theme. This will be our fifth year in a row as participants. We usually debut our latest fabric collection during this annual event, and the beautiful dinner table set for ten guests is a perfect backdrop to show our creativity. We create an over the top centerpiece (sometimes 6 feet tall), bespoke table linens, dinner napkins and chair seats. This year, our table promises to be jewel-toned, and we want a bevy of beautiful colors on the table to showcase our vision. Thinking these little dishes set on each plate as a gift for the guests would make the perfect gift.
