Kathryn Ruby's Art In Our Designed Writer's Nook at High Point Designer Showhouse

Featuring The Work
of Artist Kathryn Ruby

We enjoy profiling talented artists here on Nest by Tamara blog.  I first came across Kathryn Ruby's art on Instagram and I fell in love with it right away.  She takes a unique approach to creating her art and channels the former Masters' and some of their muses in her works then puts her own, unique and modern perspective to these iconic pieces.  Many of these are pen on paper with mixed medium as well, and all are original, personally signed and framed in simple black wood frames. Ruby is a busy artist, and this month alone she had two group shows in New York City with more exhibits on the horizon this Fall and Winter.
sneak peeks of Kathryn Ruby's
GIRL AS GARDEN
in our Writer's Nook for the
Junior League High Point Designer Showhouse
debuting October 18, 2019 in High Point, NC
We were invited to decorate the China Closet in the dining room of a historic Craftsman-style home in High Point, North Carolina this Fall.  Instead of a typical China Closet, we took a different view and created a writing nook for the fictitious "Lady of the House"- a respite where she goes for inspiration and to write her prose.  A room that is usually focused on entertaining and serving others, will now serve the Lady of the House.  We channeled writer Virginia Woolf with our Fall textile collection and in this space, and as it started to take shape, we noted Ruby's pieces worked well with our designs. We are excited to have borrowed her GIRL AS GARDEN and it's hanging in our Writer's Nook in the Junior League High Point Designer Showhouse (follow them on instagram at @jlhpshowhouse)In our Writer's Nook we utilized our root cellar designs' wallpaper and textiles to create the space then incorporated wares from Currey and Company and finished with Kathryn's art combined with our own art we created with textiles and other unique finds.  We chose a jewel-box of colors, blue and green hues inspired from our new Virginia Woolf textile collection of cornflower, cadet, fern and black.

Please reach out to Kathryn at kathryn.ruby@gmail.com if you'd like to inquire or buy her pieces and check her out on instagram at @artforthemasses1 Take a look at some of our favorites from Ruby's collections...
