2020 Color Trends For The Home-- Minty Green

Mint Green Is Trending in Interior Design,
And We Share Five Ways To Add This Color To Your Home!

Although Classic Blue is the color of the year (this blue is my favorite color), to me, soft Minty Green has been having a moment here in the design world. Not the avocado lime of the 1970s, but a soft, touch of earth yet vibrant mint green that can be seen throughout nature on animals, insects and plants. I am always a little suspicious of people who don't like green-- it's literally born of the earth we live. It represents life, nature, growth, spring and all that is good in the world. I have never used a green in a home that I didn't love (with the rare exception of a bit too yellow green at times as it doesn't always flatter complexions). But, from rich jewel-toned emerald green to earthy mossy green, it has been my experience that this hue enhances almost any room and home. The risky move of slathering the walls of my living room in our pre-war apartment in New York City with a saturated rich-dark green, proved to be a smart move. The calming nature of the color, yet this rich version makes up for the lack of light in the otherwise pretty space with high ceilings and pre-war architecture. However, as shown above in the first photograph, I usually choose a lighter softer green when painting or wallpapering a bedroom. The calming nature of Mint Green makes it a perfect environment for sleep and relaxing. Green is versatile, and it's a lovely color to combine with other hues in the rainbow from all blues to yellows, pink, browns and more.

With spring just around the horizon, let's celebrate Mint Green (although that is still weeks away so this is wishful think), and let's give this color the spotlight it deserves. 4. A Mint Green Stove or Refrigerator- It's no secret color is now offering itself to kitchens in a big way. Once the room of all-white and stainless steel, kitchens are getting warmer. We all now know we spend the most time in this room, so the colorful, warm offerings are getting ore plentiful. Even kitchen appliances are getting a color facelift. Last year, when I attended KBIS in Las Vegas, I loved seeing all the colors of the rainbow on stoves, refrigerators and even cabinetry. A little bit of Mint Green gives a vintage, retro feel as here by Big Chill in their "Jadite Green" retro line.
