Fall Clean-up At The Cottage Made A Little Easier With A Few, Key Tools

Every year, I create our Thanksgiving dinner while cooking over two days time (sometimes three) with juggling oven time for baking pies, and allowing enough time to whip all the side dishes.  Sidenote- my table this year was set the day before Thanksgiving with a medley of old and new plates, table linens, silver, some family heirlooms and textiles from my own fabric line, root cellar designs

So, with the leaves falling off the trees and our yard blanketed in a pretty layer of leaves, regardless of cooking, we made a couple hours for the annual fall clean-up. Before the first freezing temperatures those leaves need to go.  With a few, important tools this year, it was a snap.

to try out, and it made trimming the leaves on the hedges 
and pruning the wisteria on the pergola a snap
First, we used a landscape pro hack that we learned from watching our lawn care professionals (we call it the tarp secret).  We rake or blow all the leaves onto heavy tarps then drag the tarps to the forest part of our property.  Instead of our usual loading them all on wheel barrel each load, and this saved us considerable amount of time.  Having a couple good leaf blowers is a necessity and saved us hours of more raking. Then, this new, compact and cordless pruning shear (with a charging station) is great for whipping around the yard and trimming here and there.  All the outdoor furniture cushions and outdoor rugs go inside for the winter, the patio is cleaned, the potted plants put in the ground for winter.  So, here's my extended list of what you need for a quick and easy Fall Clean Up...
1. large tarps (with handles)
2. wheel barrel
3. sturdy extended ladder (for the hard to reach wisteria on the pergola)
4. leaf blowers (we have two sizes)
5. heavy rakes
5. hedge and branch pruners/trimmers
