Part 2- The East Hampton Historical House & Garden Tour (Our Favorite Home on the Tour in 2024)
Part 2-
Our Favorite
on the 2024 East Hampton
Historical House and Garden Tour,
On today's recap of the 2024 East Hampton Historical House & Garden Tour (emphasis on garden this year), we highlight our favorite. This is a lovely pink-tinged home on Egypt Lane built in 1876 and known as the George Eldredge House. Not surprisingly, it was renovated by interior designer Steven Gambrel who gave this Colonial, farmhouse-style home a modern flow with a classic design that feels both American and European (I love the French feeling of the garden). Gambrel lightened and brigthened the interiors simultaneously with bleached wide plank floors, a lovely red oven and gorgeous kitchen, and while utilizing his impeccable way with color throughout. Beautiful plantings include 26 Crepe Myrtle trees creating a dreamy path leading to the red-latticed pool house. And, astonishingly the property sits on only 1.2 acres yet it feels expansive with a teal-colored potting shed, an outdoor kitchen and entertaining space and even a small guest cottage.
It is also noteworthy that the East Hampton Historical House and Garden Tour is the longest running house and garden tour in Eastern Long Island, In its 39th year, the tour this year was attended by hundreds of guests and was sold out earlier than ever before.
Bravo to the talented designers, the committee members and volunteers, and of course to those generous homeowners who donate their home for all of us to see for a few hours (and on the weekend of Thanksgiving that is probably no small feat for them). Please see Part 1, some of my favorite highlights this year and be certain to stop back for Part 3 for the rest of the homes showcased. Check out the East Hampton Historical Society for more upcoming events.
Happy Nesting
XO Tamara
