I look forward each spring to donning a fantastical table for a fancy gala in New York City.  The Lenox Hill Spring Gala is hosted in a historic former bank which is now run by Cipriani.  The ballroom is old-world, gorgeous with soaring ceilings in the grand style of Italian Romanesque Revival.  Throughout the space there are marble columns, 65-foot ceilings, inlaid marble floors and dripping chandeliers inspired by Byzantine architecture.  

For the annual black-tie dinner and dancing gala, each table is decorated with extravagant flowers and creative (sometimes over-the-top) table decor with over a dozen interior designers and artists invited by the Lenox Hill team to don a table in the year’s theme.  I will be utilizing my new Summer House tile collection with Country Floors along with my newest textiles collection with root cellar designs, as well as some decoupage in this year’s theme, “Once Upon A Dream". The idea has me thinking about a blue and white color palette, how much I love sea-life, and all while channeling the Roman God, Neptune.  

Who is Neptune?

The Roman god of the sea was a powerful ancient mythological figure.  He ruled over the oceans and all water. Neptune reigned with a fiery temper wielding a three-pronged trident and holding authority over the waters in a powerful way stirring waves and calming seas. The tales tells he traveled across the ocean riding in a sea-horse driven chariot while sailors and fishermen revered and honored him and praying for good weather conditions and safe voyages.  Faith to Neptune showcases humanity’s connection and respect to the sea.  So, my "Neptune's Dream" will celebrate a passion for for the sea.
