2019 Color Trends for Kitchens & Bathrooms noted at the KBIS Show in Las Vegas

5 Big & Bold Color Trends In 2019
For The Kitchen & Bathroom
If you're ready for an emerald green refrigerator with gold finishes and a glass door, raise your hand! {my hand is way up} by True Residential.

To me, color trends are constantly changing in the home, morphing, adding onto one another, layering, then editing.  The color trends are some of the most interesting trends for the home because they are an instant thermometer of where we are collectively headed, so  say, let's go there.

Please see my Part 2: Design Trends from KBIS which will follow this post and in anticipation of that story most products offered at KBIS are offering us a more stress-free, wellness-focused, streamlined experience in the home.  This is the mantra for 2019 and beyond.  Therefore, the color choices reflect that.  We've seen vibrant jewel-toned colors mixed with warm hues for the home at the international design fairs this year but now we are seeing these combinations headed straight into the kitchen and bathroom as well.  The breakout color STAR at KBIS is this beautifully warm gem-like green.  Never before have we seen green in the kitchen on our cabinets and appliances like this before.  Are we ready?  I am. The color noted over again at KBIS was a vibrant, warm emerald green.  Yes, green has been trending the past few years from rich to bright verdant and back to jewel-toned but green is where we are "at" right now.  It makes sense since Emerald Green represents renewal, harmony and wellness, and it's warm and invigorating.

Although Black has been trending for almost ten years in the home and more recently in the kitchen, now at KBIS we saw all-black in the bathroom as well.  Last color noted is Cobalt Blue, another jewel tone and it's been around for quite some time, and popular longer then the green we are seeing, but it's certainly here to stay.  These jolts of color and jewel-tones combined with black, white, neutrals and woods then with various metal from gold, brass to black in brushed and matte are giving us new kitchen views for the future.
All of these color trends are a departure from the cold, sterile all-stainless kitchens of the past.
These at Cafe Appliances with the white quartz matte white range and hood with brushed copper handles - divine!
Ann Sacks showed this gorgeous green tile backsplash at KBIS in their Crackle Collection
The jewel-colored Delta lamp by Robert Abbey at Lamps Plus caught my attention and the earthy feeling of this rich green is classic.
Take a look at the five color trends-
1. Emerald combined with gold and brass and of course with wood cabinetry is gorgeous.  We saw Emerald Green on Kitchen appliances, tile, cabinetry, and this green was everywhere at KBIS.  It pairs well with woods and neutrals and equally with white black and even other colors. It's bold and beautiful and although it's trending, this is a classic color that is here to stay in the kitchen and bathroom!
cobalt blue refrigerator at True Residential comes in Blue, White and the new Emerald Green. The upscale refrigeration brand has a Build Your True program allowing designers to personalize their fridges with color and finishes.
Thermador's Blue knobs are just the right amount of punch, and are like icing on the cake of these beautiful, professional cooking units.  It's great branding for them too
2. COBALT- I just love blue in a home, and cobalt is another color associated with healing, yet in the cobalt version it is also invigorating.  Since blue is the most popular color of the rainbow in the home, it is no surprise that the color will now show itself in the kitchen and the bathroom.  Whether your cabinets are white, dark brown or even a color, that little shot of cobalt blue is a statement piece that brings joy to a kitchen.
The Escondido Vanity from Thompson Traders features a new Black Matte Finish (shh...but the owners also told me they'll be debuting this finish on their next copper bathtub collection (which will be Black Matte on the outside and gleaming copper on the inside-- woo hoo!)
3. BLACK MATTE - black has been trending in the home for years.  The moody hue became popular in kitchens a few years ago too, but now we are seeing all black sink units in the bathroom, with all black from the faucet to the legs on the sink in bathrooms too.  This is sleek and modern.
Signature Kitchen Suites shows us their cook system paired with gorgeous warm, wooden cabinetry, and a white marble backsplash.   This 48" dual-fuel range built with a sous-vide option for the advanced chef in the family who wants precision in cooking.  There are many of cooking options at your fingertips with this system.
4. Woods & Warm Neutrals- up until recently we only had white and stainless kitchens to choose from or outdated wooden cabinetry.  At KBIS this Market, we saw a new modern, warm wood option that when paired with white and the various metals, Matte Black and these bold colors, brings a special warmth to the kitchen and bathroom.
the Tuscan Stainless fridge by Samsung is earthy and timeless, offering a new kind of neutral. Offered on a refrigerator, dishwasher, cooking system and soon microwave models
Thompson Traders offers a wide variety of hand-hammered sinks, tubs and oven hoods in beautiful copper and patina'd finishes which give off a warm-glow to a kitchen.
5. Icy- well, this really isn't a color now is it, but the idea of cool, clear detailing, no color, translucence gives a modern touch is trending.  A complete departure from all the warmth on the other end of the spectrum.  We saw lots of Lucite at KBIS which is lighter then wood as accoutrements on furniture legs, lamp bases, chandeliers and other items.   I noted the Lucite and the "ice color" everywhere, again bringing that luxurious feel to the kitchen and bathroom. Lamps Plus now offers sofas on Lucite legs, and plethora of lighting in Lucite as well from chandeliers to pendants.
