On the Set of Award Winning Television Series, Succession Showing Real Life Eastnor Castle in England.
We Love The Architectural Eye Candy at Castle Eastnor
Profiled on Succession
Back to back episodes of Successions has us hooked on this now award-winning HBO series (they just won this year's Golden Globe for Best Television Series). We watched the entire season 2 over the holidays, and we are smitten. It has all the good stuff- power, intrigue, family drama, cover ups and great "eye candy" showing homes and architecture all over the world. My favorite episode was in Season 1 when Shiv (the daughter of the family) was married in an English castle. Channeling Lords of the manner, we caught glimpses of the interior and exterior which is spectacular and daunting. Turns out, it's a real life castle which is often rented for events and filming locations. I love the interior design and although with high style and old-world sensibilities, it has some great pointers for today's homes. Many design experts agree that in 2020 interior design trends are leaning strongly towards old-world, classic interiors with rich and bold gem-colors and a "more is more" philosophy. This layering is a departure from the neutral almost-sterile design designs seen in the past. It appears people want to live richly in their homes, feel pampered and going back to our design roots. Classic design has returned! Hurray for that and we can all take some design pointers from Eastnor.
Eastnor is a real life castle in the Cotswolds in Herefordshire, England. In the 16th century, the Cocks family bought the land, but it wasn't until 1812 that the castle was built by the family's next generations and inspired by medieval castles in Ireland. Constructed with Ashlar stonework by English architect Robert Smirke, it took eight years to finalize from 1812-1820. Today, it's owned by the Hervey-Bathurst family.
